Back 2 normal

5 mi. A track workout without long sleeves or legs on! Wonderful.  Paul called out a seemingly routine workout today –

1 mi warmup

800m
200m recovery
400m
200m recovery
200m
200m recovery
2 x 500m with 100m recovery in between
200m recovery
800m
200m recovery
400m
200m recovery
200m
200m recovery
1000m

1 mi cooldown.

I didn’t feel blazing fast, only on the first 400m did I dare pace with the front guys. Erica asked me after that, “Where’d that come from?” I was behind her the rest of the workout, including a brush (my fault) too close to her on the final turn of the second 500m that could have thrown her leg/knee into the otehr one and caused a fall.  Knowing how her January started with a big bike crash and Trauma Hawk ride to the hospital, I paid very close attention to where I was with her all morning.  I have thought maybe two years ago about being in a track accident where people trip over each other in the dark. May I stay out of that in the future!

I was glad I did the workout. Kyle ran two quick 500m with the leaders – he’ll need to make that routine to get a 3:10 BQ. If I want to improve, staying way out front in 400m or shorter should be my norm, too!
