50 mi. Suzanne and I left the 7am start group only minutes before, thinking they’d catch us easily. They never did. We went to Bridge Rd, paused, continued up Gomez and over to Sandsprit park with no trailers. We saw the group near the Port Salerno traffic circle fixing a flat, it was the second flat of the morning for that guy. We saw clouds from the west all the way home and tried to beat the predicted 11am storm home. We did, but barely! Once at Loggerhead park the sky opened with that painful, windy rain that comes as a front crossed into town. I knew the group would be getting the worst of this, I went to Dunkin Donuts and was clear of the storm, bike dry in the car… our hunch to start a few minutes early was the difference! And it was good for me to get on with a significant ride, vs the Bridge Rd short Sunday outings.
