Bridge recovery

8 miles. It’s as it has been for years – Run a marathon, make sure I’m at the Blue Heron Bridge on Tuesday to wobble through a recovery run. This time, no marathon.

Our race in Washington’s Crossing, PA was cancelled at the last minute. I didn’t run the marathon distance in tribute to the event or to “empty” myself of the fitness and begin a rest period. The habit is set, I went to the bridge.

I will start a new half marathon training on Oct 5th. That’s more than two weeks to rest and regenerate. As of now I’m not overly ambitious for the half marathon training. Perhaps cooler weather will help make the early morning wake ups more meaningful.
