Lane 9

Coming back to regular runs after a 6-7 week layoff isn’t too difficult. I lost the last really warm weeks of the year from early September until the middle of October to a stress fracture on metatarsal #3.

Now I have to ease back into weekly miles – done a small bit at a time. Today I went to Jupiter High School track for soft surface and slow miles. I ran solo in the very outermost lane after chatting with Mary and including myself in the group photo. I ran with Jen Wooley, heading to the NYC Marathon this weekend. Then I did the cooldown with Daniel and John to catch up on the latest news about our local runners and events.

My foot is feeling better each run. Last week I did two or three runs for maybe 12 miles total. I’ve mixed in visits to the gym for elliptical and sauna sessions. I should be ready and in good shape for the Space Coast Half Marathon on November 22. I am the 2 hr pacer at that traditionally fun and well-attended event. Some easy runs this week, more low impact gym visits and I can build the miles and cardio I’ll need to begin this season.
